Men have it easier than women.
Women in today’s society have to prove they’re on the same physical level as men, and even doing so, they still get less credit and recognition.
The author uses this woman’s quote to showcase the gender roles prevalent in the army. When most think about soldiers, they don’t see a woman. Because of this, women have to work harder to be seen as equivalent to their male counterparts.
